The unit used here is a:

  • Iomega NHDD1 / 31632500 Media Network Netstore device
  • single HDD PATA connection
  • using SMB 1.0 protocol

Interface #

User interface is pretty simple, you can add users and shares, then add a user to a share:


Windows 10/11 and network #

The unit uses a SMB 1.0 interface wich is by default NOT enabled in modern Windows OS, you have to enable the SMB 1.0 service:

  1. Windows key + R, type optionalfeatures.exe and press enter
  2. Tick the box “SMB 1.0/CIFS Client“, and press OK! (it will take a while to complete the action)
  3. You will be prompted to reboot: make sure you have closed everything and reboot! (it will look as if you have triggered a Windows update)
  4. After the reboot: try the command net view \\YourServerIP\ and rejoice!
