The FireGL V7200 was an enthusiast-class professional graphics card by ATI, launched on October 1st, 2005. Built on the 90 nm process, and based on the R520 graphics processor, in its R520 GL variant, the card supports DirectX 9.0c. Since FireGL V7200 does not support DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, it might not be able to run all the latest games. The R520 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 288 mm² and 312 million transistors. It features 16 pixel shaders and 8 vertex shaders, 16 texture mapping units, and 16 ROPs. Due to the lack of unified shaders you will not be able to run recent games at all (which require unified shader/DX10+ support). ATI has paired 256 MB GDDR3 memory with the FireGL V7200, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 600 MHz, memory is running at 650 MHz.
Being a dual-slot card, the ATI FireGL V7200 draws power from 1x 6-pin power connector, with power draw not exactly known. Display outputs include: 2x DVI, 1x S-Video. FireGL V7200 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 1.0 x16 interface. The card dual-slot cooling solution. Its price at launch was 1279 US Dollars.
